Our Story

In 2005, Tiffany Roschkow started working in a volunteer capacity as co-ordinator of GreenDrinks London, the local chapter of an international community of environmental groups. As a result, she was uniquely positioned to learn what was happening in other communities around the world. Through her international network of colleagues, Tiffany defined the areas in which London was succeeding and the areas in which it was lagging. She collected Canada’s best and brightest initiatives, bringing them here to test, and developed an inclusive strategy that would connect existing government, business and non-profit sectors over the common goal of sustainability and make local ‘green’ resources easily accessible to the public and business communities.

On January 13th, 2009 she went before city council to ask for their support on this new environmental strategy that would get Londoners more involved with successful existing programs and engaged in new initiatives. Determined to gather everyone behind her dream of making the city a vibrant, sustainable community, Tiffany also invited Londoners to read her proposal online and then sign a letter of support that would let council know that they would like to see the services brought to life.

The funding request was denied (we were a little “green” in regards to how things worked at city hall), however the public response was so fantastic that Tiffany decided to move forward anyway.

ecoLIVING London received its official non-profit status in December 2009… the rest will one day be history.
