Getting Healthy (Part 3: Colonics)

May 27, 2011

When I told a couple of girl friends that I was going to try this treatment (colon hydrotherapy) as part of my “get healthy” plan for spring, they asked me to call them right after to tell them about it. They both suffered from the same digestive, energy and skin problems that I did and thought they might like to try it, if I would go first and report back. So… I went first and decided to include it as part of my blog series, in the hopes that it would help take the fear out of it for you as well.

Now, I am not going to attempt to describe the treatment itself, because let’s face it – it's a little strange and I am not a proficient enough writer to do it justice. Instead I asked Suzanne Frenette, the practitioner who did my procedure, to describe it for you in the video clip below.

What I will do... is tell you what it is like to have it done. It is different. It is a treatment that can make you feel a little vulnerable and exposed - so I was glad to have found a practitioner who made me feel safe (Suzanne is great at this). It isn’t painful, but it does feel uncomfortable at times - like a pelvic exam during a yearly physical, it can bring on that crampy feeling, so you will need to practice some deep breathing to get you through. Each session takes 45 mins to an hour.

With all that said, I do believe this treatment was effective at helping to move the toxins out of my body. So yes, I will probably include it in my twice yearly detox program from here on in and I will happily recommend it to others (Disclaimer: not as a medical professional, but as a gal who has tried it and experienced some great results).

Speaking of results… in my next article I share my new eating and exercise routines. The foods I have eliminated, the books I have referenced, the results that I am experiencing.

Stay tuned…
